Becoming a BrowncoatThe iconic brown coat of lovable rogue Captain Mal Reynolds is something I had wanted to make for a long time and on finding some very nice fake brown suede at Aberkhan for a reasonable price meant I could finally have a bash. The pattern was one I had to draw up myself as the coat is fairly unique in it’s design with unusual metal clasps at the front and two very high slits on each side of the ‘skirt’ to allow easy weapon access.I double sewed all the seams to give it that leather like look and unlike the TV costume I did line this one to make it easier to wear using brown nylon. The cuffs are in pleather. All in all it came out really well and is a comfortable coat to wear. “I aim to misbehave!”
